News Flash...

Selinsgrove Raceway Park - 05/12/06

Friday night, we made our normal 2-mile tow to the Selinsgrove Raceway Park.  Going into the night, we were 2nd in championship point standings, only a mere 70 points behind the first place driver.  After a decent practice session, we lined up in the 6th position for the heat race qualifier.  After struggling a bit, we were only able to move up to the 4th position by the time the checkered flag fell.  By missing the top 3 inversion, we were forced to start 11th in the feature event.  After making several changes to the King Racing Chassis, the first few laps of the feature were exciting as we charged toward the front of the pack, making our way into 6th after 2 laps.  On the next lap, the 5th place car got sideways in turn 4.  As I checked up to avoid the accident, my car was hit hard in the left rear, snapping the radius rod in two places and twisting the rear axle like a pretzel.  This started a chain reaction accident which halted the race under a red flag condition.  During the red flag, we returned to the pit area and the pit crew went to work and successfully repaired enough of the damage to return to the race track.  After tagging onto the rear of the field, we were able to drive the hobbling racecar though half the field by the end of the race, limping home in the 11th position, which was much better in the end than a DNF finish.

Greenwood Valley Action Track - 05/13/06

After a long day of making repairs in the shop, we traveled up to the Greenwood Valley Action Track in hopes of a great night of racing.  During the practice session, everything seemed to be going great.  After drawing a front row starting spot for our heat race, it seemed like everything was finally back on track.  Then as the green flag dropped on our heat race, all heck broke loose again.  The bolt holding the left rear radius rod fell out, collapsing onto the chain, which then snapped in a showed of sparks and slammed against our motor, putting a nice sized hole in the motor case, forcing us to retire from the race before it really even started.  After returning to the pits to fix the damage and change motors, we were ready to line up once again, at the rear of the field.  When the green flag dropped, we were able to steadily move through the field, however about halfway through the event, the motor expired and we were scored with a 19th place finish, ending a horrible weekend for us.  We look to bounce back strong next Friday night at SRP!
